Experience
I attended Dillard University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management. However, my more applicable accomplishment related to tutoring is that I am a Highly Qualified Texas Board Certified Teacher and Licensed Educational Diagnostician. Add to that my 14 years of experience working with exceptional students, and I am definitely experienced and qualified as a tutor in a variety of subjects. I've learned techniques that have been proven scientifically to work. They are shown to be systematic, prescriptive, creative, motivating, and culturally responsive. More important than that, though, is my experience working with actual students, developing and implementing instructional materials for students with numerous learning styles. I have used my natural creativity to provide lessons that take into account a student's strengths and interests, using those to help build them up in their areas of deficiency. I continue to stay up to date on the most current teaching and learning techniques, while remaining discerning in what I choose to use with individual students. Just because science has proven a technique to work in general does not mean it will work with any particular child. Outside of my career, I like watching movies, especially comedies and love stories.

On a personal note, outside of my professional educational career, I enjoy watching movies. My favorite genres are comedy and love stories. I love listening to ‘oldies but goodies’ and Jazz music; well of course, because I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Things that fascinate me include animals from the wild, events from history, the functions of the human brain, and different cultural traditions around the globe. The two loves of my life are my two sons.
